The Art of Mixing Prints

I love love print mixing. I know mixing prints can be very scary and a little bit out there for a lot of folks, but this is a look that will always looks very chic and well put together once you nail the basics. Here is print mixing 101.

The easisest way to mix prints is to make sure that the common color of your separates match. Look at the the H&M outfit on the left, although the top and pants have different prints going on; with the blouse featuring small white polka dots and the slim fit pants features asymmetrical pink dots/shapes, the color in common is navy. So, they can be worn together. Not sure if you noticed but the patterns on both are very complimentary. Go forth and practice. Trust me, the more you are able to mix prints, then you should be able to go from print mixing 101 to advanced level print mixing in no time.
